POKA - STUDENT UNION

POKA is the student union of North Karelia University of Applied Sciences. It is open to join for all students who have enrolled as being "present".

The role of POKA is to improve the position of students in the Finnish society and to provide a variety of services to the members/students. It monitors the quality of teaching and training at North Karelia University of Applied Sciences and looks after the students' best interests at the school, in Joensuu and the surrounding areas. It also organizes all kind of events and activities for the students during the academic year and hires out Survival Kits for the exchange students.

The decision-making authority at POKA lies with the delegation which has 12 members chosen by election . The execution of the decisions is left to the board and the administration to two paid employees.
