INTERNATIONAL SERVICES
NKUAS and POKA work in
co-operation to organize different kind of activities for Finnish and
foreign students and to train International Tutors.

SURVIVAL KIT
At the POKA office you can rent a Survival Kit that contains useful
items like a pillow and a blanket, a mug and a glass, plates, cutlery
and cooking utensils. The price is EUR 50 of which EUR 17 are
refunded when the Kit is returned in good and clean condition.

Starting at 4 pm from Joensuu market square. Tickets from POKA's
office beforehand. One team consists of 8-12 participants. Payment
for one team is EUR 30 or EUR 20 if every participants of a team
iare POKA's members/join in POKA when they enroll. The payment
includes FAMKY-marks for everyone in a team. There are places for 22
teams so be quick!
The winner of the competition will be rewarded in the evening at
night club Night.

POKA-TOUR on weeks 40-47
POKA will be at your own centre this autumn. You can come
to get a student card, a new sticker to your card, talk about sports
or tutoring etc. POKA will be at Centre of Design and International
Business and Wednesdays at 10-14. The themes for the tour are:

The Main point of peer tutoring is the support from a student to
another. It's based on the interaction between students - information,
skills and experiences. The aim is to reach common goals: expertise,
graduating and team spirit. A peer tutor is equal to the student and
often easier to approach than the staff of the school would be.
Student Union POKA recruits and trains the tutors and is in charge of
developing tutoring in NKUAS. The student union POKA is always there
for the tutors by giving its support and advice when needed. Among the
staff of UAS the most important collaborators for the tutors are the
student counselors and the teacher tutors. Other collaborators are the
other peer tutors, the nurse, the student pastor, lecturers and
training and development coordinators and so on. A tutor guidebook is

Ethical rules for tutoring made by tutors: 1. Don't abuse your tutorees
financially, physically or mentally, 2. Don't discriminate according
to sex/looks/thoughts/ideology etc., 3. Don't "brainwash" your
tutorees, 4. Never ignore your tutorees' urgent needs, 5. Don't
provoke to bad behaviour, 6. Don't back-stab anyone, 7. Be nice to
people, 8. Be open to anything that comes, 9. Do not lie, 10. Don't
be a racist.

All the sports are free to POKA's members or those who buy a sport
